Detailed Safety Guidelines

General Safety Requirements

Make sure that your contractors are working safely. You can seek permission to work late.

Working at height on ladders and scaffolding must be done in a controlled and safe manner.

Time constraints are no excuse for not adhering to safety standards.

All stand building must be carried out using approved fire retardant materials.

Ensure that all rubbish and packing from your stand is removed from the site.

Environmental & Waste Management

Ensure that measures are taken to minimize the impact of your operations on the environment.

Make sure that hazardous waste is disposed of safely. Fluorescent tubes contain hazardous materials.

Make sure that you are properly insured for the exhibition.

Work areas should be maintained free from general waste and packaging materials.

Electrical Safety Requirements

Critical electrical safety protocols that must be followed by all participants

Live Cable Treatment
Treat all electrical cables as though they were live
Qualified Personnel
All electrical work must be carried out by qualified personnel
Safety Isolation
Every stand must have easily accessible electrical isolation
RCD Protection
External installations must be protected by residual current devices
Additional Electrical Safety Requirements

Portable electric tools must use minimum length trailing leads and not be left unattended with live power supply.

No electrical cables must be allowed to cross gangways, passageways, and fire exits.

All installations will be tested for compliance and will not be energized if found unsafe.

Particular attention must be given to earthing regulations.

No exposed means of cable joints will be permitted.

Documentary proof of electrical personnel competence may be required.

Emergency Procedures

Fire Emergency

In the event of any fire outbreak, however small, the fire alarm should be activated and the area evacuated.

Only trained, competent staff should attempt to fight the fire with extinguishers if it is safe to do so.

Substance Abuse Policy

Individuals under the influence of alcohol or drugs, posing a danger to themselves or others at the venue, will be promptly asked to leave.

Security or law enforcement may be involved if necessary.
